Boxing Fans Not Happy And Blame Tyson Fury As Heavyweight Showdown With Oleksandr Usyk Cancelled

Tyson Fury was set to compete with Oleksandr Usyk for all of the belts at Wembley Stadium on April 29.

The World Heavyweight Unification bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is now reportedly off

Boxing fans were less than impressed at reports the Tyson Fury vs Blockasset athlete Oleksandr Usyk fight had been called off.

Reports in the early hours of Wednesday said the heavyweight showdown was off as the finer details of contracts could not be agreed on.

Previously, Fury and Usyk had agreed on a 70/30 split in Fury's favour. Usyk had made significant concessions to secure the undisputed fight.

The target date for the fight was April 29 at Wembley Stadium. However, with only a few weeks left until the fight, no official agreement had been signed.

The exact reasons for the failed negotiations are unknown, but a recent sticking point was the inclusion of a rematch clause. Usyk's manager blamed Fury for pushing for more.

Usyk has reportedly ended his training camp for the fight and is now considering his next bout, which is likely to be against his WBA mandatory challenger, Daniel Dubois.

Although no official statement has been released by Fury's team, fans have expressed frustration and disappointment with the news.

One fan wrote: “Fury is scared, simple as that.”

Another added: “Seems like Fury didn’t wanna fight AJ or Usyk, always problems when it comes to these fights.”

One said: Same Fury that retired instead of taking Wlad rematch. Scuppered AJ fight and now has done the same with Usyk.

“Usyk/AJ was made twice no problems at all. Fury has fought Chisora three times! He has faced two top fighters his whole career! Fraud.”

Another fan wrote: “So much for Fury not being bothered about the money.”

An unhappy Fury supporter added: “Always been a big Fury fan but this stinks. Looks to me as though Usyk called Fury’s bluff and Fury has continued to make unreasonable demands to get the fight cancelled. Bottle job.”
