Blockasset agrees partnership with Chiliz

The agreement will see Blockasset operate cross-chain on Chiliz Chain 2.0 and Solana, whilst Chiliz make an equity investment to Blockasset.

Blockasset has entered a partnership agreement with Chiliz

  • Blockasset will partner with Chiliz Labs, the $50M accelerator and incubator for early-stage blockchain projects, which launched March 1 for companies to build on the new Chiliz Chain for sports and entertainment.

  • Blockasset is one of the largest Web3 sports brands with multiple sold-out sports NFT drops and exposure to millions of social media followers through its partner athletes. Blockasset is currently building an athlete token ecosystem with a growing world-class roster of more than 40 athletes.

MARCH 7th 2023. Blockasset has today announced a partnership with global sports web3 giants, Chiliz. As part of the agreement, Chiliz made an equity investment into Blockasset, joining a list of partners which also features Wayne Rooney and Michael Bisping.

Blockasset has also confirmed that its operations will now be carried out cross-chain, becoming the latest project to commit to build on Chiliz Chain 2.0. Contrary to incorrect reports made earlier today, Blockasset also remains committed to building on the Solana chain.

Blockasset is an athlete-verified Token platform enabling fans, brands and athletes to connect through cutting-edge Web3 social technology. By partnering with Chiliz, Blockasset amplifies its reach to Chiliz' network of sports fans on its Socios.com platform, which currently celebrates more than 170 partnerships with different sporting organisations around the world and participation levels that has seen Chiliz and its fan tokens used by more than 1.8 million unique wallet addresses.

In working with research and innovation incubator, Chiliz Labs, Blockasset and Chiliz will create a value exchange, using Socios.com’s network and Blockasset's existing partnerships with some of the world's leading athlete representation agencies to provide utility and cross activations for Fan Token holders and athlete token holders alike.

Blockasset has five sold-out NFT collections under its belt, including the record-breaking Blockasset Legends collection featuring Muhammad Ali, Wayne Rooney, Michael Bisping, Alexander Ovechkin and Jonah Lomu, which became the highest-grossing verified sports collection in the world.

Blockasset is now ready to release a new fan token platform for athletes. Sports fans can look forward to official tokens from Blockasset’s world-class roster athletes, including UFC superstars Jorge Masvidal, Khamzat Chimaev, Gilbert Burns, Middleweight Champion Alex Pereira and more than 40 athletes. Fans can already sign up to subscribe to the initial athlete token listings through Blockasset’s platform.

Speaking on behalf of Blockasset, CEO Paul Evans said, “We’ve been long-time admirers of what the Socios.com concept and the Chiliz ecosystem has brought to the world of sport. They introduced the innovative Fan Token concept for top teams all around the world and the fans have benefited from this innovation. We are bringing Fan Tokens to athletes, which has different dynamics and benefits from leagues and teams.”

Evans continued, “Our mission is to use Web3 technology to connect sports fans and brands with athletes, providing fans with an elevated experience of engagement and access never possible before, whilst offering athletes an additional revenue stream and full control over their IP. It’s a win-win ecosystem where the fan and athlete have a mutually beneficial relationship, a huge leap from the distant relationship fans and athletes currently have on social media. We are excited to join forces with Chiliz to leverage their sports industry relationships and technical expertise to help accelerate our mission.”

Alexandre Dreyfus, founder and CEO of Chiliz, said: “We are very happy to welcome Blockasset, an innovative project that shares our vision to reshape fan experience in sports by using Web3 technology to bring the fans closer to their heroes.

“Blockasset’s athlete-verified token approach is different yet completely complementary to our Socios.com team Fan Token model, allowing us to strengthen the utility of our Fan Tokens and increase our catalogue of rewards through cross activations.

“Furthermore, this alliance means a new step forward towards consolidating Chiliz as the leading Web3 infrastructure for sports and the go-to platform for brands looking to build the future of fan engagement.”
